PHP5 Installed
Well, it took me nearly two days and an entire bottle of Tylenol, but I managed to do it! Yesterday, PHP5 was installed on my development servers with a little help from Michal at Cornerhost to get ScriptAlias up and running for me.
I’ve been looking into upgrading my code to php5 for a while now, but haven’t had the time, or the capability with what’s presently installed on the servers at Cornerhost. So, after Michal telling me to try installing the programming language as a cgi handler in Apache, I started research into doing just that. Over the past couple days I downloaded and compiled the necessary programs and got them installed on my account. I spent a little while gettingn the configuration in .htaccess just right, but it’s all up and running now.
I will be posting more on what I did to make it happen (basically my project notes) later on today or tomorrow, as I’d like to think there are other people out there who are trying to do this and don’t have a clue where to get started. (Such as myself when I embarked on this quest.) As well, I know how little blatant information is out there right now for anyone trying to do this (as I spent a few hours browsing Google Web and Google Groups to little avail.).
User Profiles
It’s not finished yet, but the User Profile panel is up and running. Anyone with an account on the control panel may log in and update their information as they see fit. I’ve got a few more niceties that I’d like to add to make it look a little less like something hacked out of the database, but those will come in the next little while as I have time to add them. For now, the basic functionality is there.
