Control Panel Update
It’s not much, but it’s another feature. ‘Change Password’ is back up and running. If you’ve desperately been waiting to change your password for the control panel so that none of those pesky hackers know what it is, you can do so without Administrator intervention now.
Have fun!
Development Servers
I’ve been tinkering with the Online Development Servers feature on the Control Panel today. As a result of that, we now actually have a workable listing of development servers posted; which will also display whether or not a given server is currently online.
In order to save on Control Panel loading speed (for those of us users with many many development servers,) I’ve set a script to update the status message of each server every 15 minutes. This keeps the load down on the servers and the database as well, which is a good thing. (I realize the actual traffic is small, but when you get into requesting the same information over and over and over again, it helps to minimize what needs to be done. I also believe that loading time is a crucial thing, and that having this feature set up such that it works and loads quickly is a big thing.)
I have a note posted on the Control Panel that development servers will be requiring that clients log into the Control Panel here in order to gain access to them. This is, of course, a security matter, and only pertains to development servers that I am personally hosting. I don’t believe that we want anyone who isn’t a part of a given project viewing what work is being done before the project is launched; and that is the main reason for it. (At the moment, this feature hasn’t been implemented, but I expect to have it done very shortly. Likely within the next week or so.)
