Happy Holidays

A Merry Christmas to all, and a Happy New Year! This is just a quick note to let you know that I will be unavailable for work during December 23, 2005 and January 2, 2006. I am off to celebrate the holidays and rest up before diving into the new year.

If you happen to be interested in contacting me regarding work, you may call me at 204-294-1293 or e-mail me at email@chrisbraybrook.com, as per usual. I may be unable to respond to your calls / e-mails before January 2nd however. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. However, if you are a client, my ‘Send Request’ program is still fully available to you, and if you have an urgent matter, you may contact me directly using that method.

Have a Great Holiday everyone! I look forward to seeing you in the new year. :)

Control Panel Login

The control panel login has not gone away permanently. In fact, it has not gone away at all. Rather, I have moved it to a link on the sidebar you should now see at left. I apologize if anyone got confuzzled.

To Mozilla Users

At the moment, I’m currently re-working the centering rules in my css for the site. So, at the moment, you’re getting a site that is un-centered. I’m working on this and hope to have it resolved in the next few days.

Thank you for your patience!

Goo(gle)d News

Pardon the play on words with the title for this post. I had to make some reference to its content.

I logged into my e-mail this morning to find, as usual, a number of messages from my website letting me know what’s going on. Amongst some them was an ip address I recognized; that of Google’s googlebot. As it turns out, today was the day Google decided to pay me a visit. (Along with, apparently, every other web bot on the net going by the list of them in the Analog stats.) As a result, this website has a much better result when trying to find it by its main keywords.

For instance, if you go and search ‘Chris Braybrook’ at Google (or Yahoo), you will get this site at the top of the listings. ‘Chris Braybrook portfolio’ gets a slightly lower listing (3rd or 4th I believe). However, it’s still there. :)

For the last several months, my site’s ranking and keywords have resulted in some pretty poor traffic. Thus, I am happy to see that things have changed in that regard. (Before you had to use like 5 keywords to get a good search result for the site. Now, 2 will do it.)

This was such good news for me this morning, that I just felt I had to post something about it!

User Timeouts

I’ve added a timeout to the authentication protocols of the control panel. It’s a security measure to make sure that no one stumbling across your signed-in account is going to be able to have access to it if it’s been left open for longer than the timeout period.

I’ve set it up so that, if you find you need more time to be idle than what is allotted by default, I can increase the timeout window for individual users. (So, if you need more idle time on your sessions with the control panel, send me an e-mail - webmaster@chrisbraybrook.com - and I’ll make the necessary changes if I deem them reasonable.)

Have a great day everyone!
