Porting Old Posts

It appears that it’s going to take me a little time and hand-editing to get the posts from my old database ported over into the WordPress one.

So far, I’ve tried taking the content of each post out of the old database, throwing it into an e-mail and sending it off for WordPress to download it; it’s working somewhat, but not all of the content is being sent properly, and when it does get there the date and time is completely scrambled.

Ah well, it’s only 32 posts or so…can’t take me that long

Getting Wordpress Going

In the interest of posting something to the blog that wasn’t complete nonsense testing stuff for those people that manage to find their way here, I’m posting this. :)

Things are slowly coming along in developing my own theme for Wordpress. I am trying to integrate the software into my existing website template as much as possible, and that’s where I’m running into my delays. My website, presently, is set up rather differently than the way that Wordpress is designed, so I have to use Wordpress’s templating system for the main blog. It will take me a little while to get the administrative stuff working with the wordpress main page, but I think that it can be done.

At present, the main delay is that both WordPress and :: chrisbraybrook.com ::’s control panel stuff work with PHP and MySQL, thus there’s some overlap in the variables and the way that they talk to the database. I’m going to be smoothing out the bugs shortly. In the mean time, I’m just going to keep WordPress off to the side here so that the main website isn’t disturbed.
