Portfolio
I’ve not gotten rid of the Portfolio section, just temporarily hidden the tab. I’m not a fan of leaving broken links dangling out there for people to stumble upon and get mad at. I’ve just now added a script to dynamically determine which main menu tab the user is viewing and change the style accordingly. (This allows me to keep a file of "what’s on the menu" in one place, so I can add tabs in the future without having to edit every single page on my website. (I may be a designer, but I’m also a programmer, and sometimes, that mix can make life much easier.)
Old Posts
I’m still considering porting over the posts from my old blogging system to this one. It’s low on the priority list, but I think it’ll get tackled in a couple of weeks. Whenever I have time for a mindless task.
The New Design
Greetings to all of those out there who stumble across this humble little blog and happen to notice that I’m actually in the middle of redesigning my website!
I’d come to the conclusion about a month ago now that the existing site design was in a bad way, and looked absolutely horrible. So, in an effort to drive a little more business my way, and at least show that I have a little design skill in me, I’ve put together this new design and am in the process of porting over the old content of the site into it.
So far, things are going swimmingly. I’ve managed to completely re-write the client authentication code for my control panel, and have set up this article as the main page. Also, as I’m sure you can plainly see, I’ve managed to incorporate my design into the WordPress templating system, giving clients (and myself) access to my blog once more.
I’m in a bit of a hurry to get some other things done, so I’m not going to spend forever regailing you with the ins and out of ‘why I did this’ and ‘why I did that’. I’ll save that for another post. ;) In the mean time, I bid you adieu, and look forward to reading your comments should you leave any.
Have a great visit, and an excellent day!
New Banner
Well, if you’re reading this, then it’s obvious what I’m posting about. :) Yes, I’ve come up with the new banner for :: chrisbraybrook.com ::. Some people out there may think it’s a bit ‘done’ already in terms of the fact that this type of banner has been used in other places before; however, even though I’ve thought about that myself, I say this: I like it. :)
So, taking from this point on, I will be making a few changes, including rearranging a few things on the site. I plan to move the Reading List blog over to a new site to keep things separate. (Personal vs Professional, you understand.) As well, the portfolio stuff is going to become front and center for this site. I am going to set up the main page so that it randomly pulls a new piece out of the portfolio every day to display on the home page. (How’s that for dynamic content for ya!) ;)
Redesign
I’m trying to re-work the design a little bit. So, forgive me if things look a little ravaged. I’m considering a few different options.
